Hey everyone! I have now completed a few weeks of juicing and wanted to share my experience with everyone. I would have to say that I have a lot more energy than I did just a few weeks ago and I believe drinking this juice has definitely helped with that.
I think I should start with the reason why I have decided to start juicing in the first place.
I am a pretty health conscious guy. I work out, eat relatively healthy, but there are still some days that I just feel wiped. I like to scour the internet for the latest blurbs on how to stay healthy, and lately I have been reading and listening about our PH level in our bodies, and what can happen if we become too acidic from what we eat. I am definitely not a doctor, but it doesn’t take one to realize that focusing on consuming lots of healthy, vibrant green vegetables is pretty important when it comes to balancing out your PH and living a healthy life!
One of the first times I had learned about your PH is from a very successful supplement company called Genuine Health. We sell a lot of their products at The Main Dish and have had some of their experts come down and do talks about the benefits of eating dark green vegetables, or supplements. They talk about how in an ideal world, our bodies should have a balanced PH level, or slightly alkaline. When your body is balanced this way, all the organs are working properly, you have lots of energy, recover faster from workouts, and everything just flows!

When the body has extra acid and isn’t alkaline, there can be a lot of problems. The worst part is that so many things in our day to day lives can cause this acid build up in our system. Things like smoking, drinking alcohol, and eating refined sugars are just some of the reasons why people build up extra acid in their system. This is what can be a contributor to diseases and discomfort.
So after reading more articles, listening to people speak on the subject. I decided that juicing was the way to go!
Another piece of evidence I found was watching the move “Fat Sick, and Nearly Dead” by a man names Joe Cross. He is a man that went on a juice fast for 60 days, and had some amazing results from doing it. I would check out the trailer if I were you!
I have decided to incorporate juicing into my daily life and I have a few tips that have made my juicing experience better. First off I would stick with the darkest, greenest vegetables you can find, and lots of them. Some of my favorites are kale, Swiss chard, parsley, cilantro, cucumber, spinach, and celery just to name a few. These vegetables are high in minerals, and help to increase your alkalinity. The second thing I do is when I make a big batch of juice, I freeze it. It’s easier than pulling out your juicer and juicing 7 times a week! Now you are probably wondering if freezing ruins the vegetables and all their health benefits. A good friend of mine told me to juice some lemons in with the juice which will help to prevent the greens from losing their nutritional value. Don’t use too many lemons, maybe just one or two for a weeks worth of juice. I have found that out the hard way after drinking a really sour glass of juice! Also only juice enough for a week at the most. Definitely over time the juice will naturally lose its potency if it sits in your freezer for several weeks.
Mason jars are easy enough to find and are really cheap. I just purchased two dozen and rotate through them on a weekly basis. I plan on going in more depth on juicers themselves in another post, so stay tuned for that!
People who haven’t juiced before are probably wondering what it tastes like. Too be honest, the first time I tried it I wasn’t a huge fan. Part of

the reason was the juice I had was at room temperature and I like the taste of the juice when its cold right out of the freezer. After you juice for a while, you get used to the taste and it starts to have a nice sweetness to it, but you have to stick with it! It will taste like wet grass at first, but I promise it will taste better and you will FEEL better which is the end result. I have been purchasing my produce from a company called SPUD.ca. They deliver organic produce to my door weekly which works out perfectly for me. I usually receive an order on Monday, and juice it right away that night. It’s perfect! I’m still learning about what flavors work best with what, but its a healthy experience that will help keep me young for a long time hopefully!
So this is my first post on juicing, and I intend on having many more down the line. Juicing has helped me tremendously with my energy levels and is great for me when I spend all the hours in the kitchen that I do. Thanks for checking this out. Stay tuned for more.
